Farm structures and morning mist

Storyline: Advantures in our back yard

(Perhaps the last of the staycation tax credit series)

A few photos from our last fall trip.

It’s been an unusually warm November here in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) so far.

But although day temperatures are lingering in the double digits (Celsius) territory, the forecast for below-freezing night temperatures was on the horizon.

As I post this, Doranya is winterized (as of yesterday).

Our last trip with the water tank full, was to the Balsam Lake Provincial Park at the end of October. It has electrical sites and was closing October 31st.

There are a handful of Provincial Parks open for RV camping during the winter with electrical sites only.

Needless to say, water is not available and with a campervan like ours one has to camp winterized.

I won’t elaborate on what this means, but let just say we’ve done it before; dry camping.

We carry water bottles inside the van that can be heated with our propane if electricity isn’t available. But the WC is only flushed with RV antifreeze.

So, the Balsam Lake trip was our last trip not sacrificing comfort.

It is not too far, just north of Kawartha Lakes, a couple of hours away.

As usual we took the smaller roads once out of the GTA.

But where does GTA end these days?

The urban life spawls out and takes over more and more farmland.

It was just a dozen kilometres before the lake where we could find a country road and disconnect from urban development.

Included are a few photos taken with our cell phones.

I remember being envied for my little camera having the best zoom (digital) during our South America trip in 2017.

These days our phones have much better zooms.

Who needs single-purpose camera?

But phones do cost a lot more than a small camera😊.
